Each month, we will be celebrating the creativity and skill of an incredible nail artist, showcasing their work, journey, and insights into the industry. Our goal is to shine a light on the talent within the nail community and introduce you to artists who inspire with their artistry and dedication.
For our debut feature, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Lorna Marie, a visionary nail artist known for her clean gel manicures and expertise in nail education.
1️⃣ A Little About Lorna
Where are you based, and how long have you been in the nail industry?
I am based in Staffordshire but a Yorkshire lass at heart. I moved to the Midlands after I met my husband in Australia. I have been in the nail industry for eight years now.
What got you into nails, and what do you love most about it?
I always had my nails done—it was the one thing I got done religiously. I fell in love with Bio Sculpture when I moved to the Midlands, as the salon I went to used it. I always worked with horses, and it was the only product that worked for me.
One day, while having my nails done, I told my nail tech I wanted a career change, and she was actually the one that gave me the kick up the butt to do the Bio course.
I love how much my clients enjoy having their nails done and the smile I get from them.
Any unexpected or standout moments in your journey?
That’s a hard one! I feel like I’ve had lots of amazing opportunities to work with brands over the last few years. But the main thing for me is being fully booked with clients choosing me as their nail tech. A little surprise last year was winning Educator of the Year at The English Nails Brows Lashes Awards.

What kind of nails do you love doing the most?
French manicure or red nails. Call me boring, but you just can’t beat a classic French manicure or a classic red set! ❤️
Do you have a signature style or technique?
I would say clients come to me for clean gel manicures—that’s what you see most of on my Instagram.

3️⃣ Lorna's Role as a Nail Educator
When did you start teaching, and what made you want to?
I started offering 1-1 bespoke masterclasses around 2021 because I had a lot of techs messaging me for help. So, I used this opportunity to dive into what it would be like to teach. I have a real passion for education and helping others.
When I first became a nail tech, there wasn’t any help out there—no platforms like we have now, and everyone seemed to gatekeep. It’s such an amazing community we have today, and I wish we had that back in 2017 when I first started.
What courses do you offer, and who are they for?
I have my own courses covering everything from gel polish to builder gel, as well as 1-1 masterclasses for up skilling. I spent a long time writing these to ensure they are a bible to refer back to after training.
I also teach Nail Order Courses, mainly the Dura Gel course (hard gel)—one of my favourite products.
Additionally, I provide E-File training for Lucy Pastorelli, which is my most popular course and sells out every month.
Any advice for nail techs looking to up skill or get into education themselves?
You can never stop learning—just go for it!
4️⃣ Lorna's NAILS-LUXE Favourites
What are your absolute go-to NAILS-LUXE products, and why?
It’s got to be the brushes—they are my absolute must-haves. When I got my first-ever NAILS-LUXE brushes, I was blown away. Brush A & H are my favourites; I can’t live without them. They were definitely brushes I didn’t know I needed until I got them.
Any tips or techniques you swear by when using them?
Always pop some clear gel back in the bristles once you have cleaned them, so they don’t go stiff. Look after them, and they will last you a long time! 🤍
